another round. lots of things happening around me and with me and to
me, and processing them into words is difficult. I still haven't done
it even for myself yet, so maybe photographs can share some of the feelings
associated with them. “a trip into the backcountry; back East; and
more travel for work.”
last time we
spoke in this way, I said:
“…the feeling of a deep, visceral, gritty
reality…”
different, this time. less reality, more of a surreal sensation.
some of these images feel
“inauthentic” of the
experience that I took part in at the time, like they capture some
idealization of what the experience is
“supposed” to be,
rather than how it really felt for me.
for at least one of these, paradoxically, the
“inauthenticity” is part of what makes the image and the
feeling even more authentically real for what it was.

largely without additional comment, the world that was briefly mine.
