HELLO! ************************************************************************

Hello Space Combatants!

Please read this file all the way through! It has some helpful hints!

Thanks!
joshua

INSTALLATION ******************************************************************

Space Combat requires no installation. Just untar the archive to the
directory of your choosing.

For example:

$ tar xzvf Space-Combat140-lin3.tar.gz

RUNNING SPACE COMBAT **********************************************************

Space Combat is very easy to get running. cd into the directory in which
Space Combat is stored, and then run the binary corresponding to your
architecture.

For example, if you are on a PC:

$ cd Space-Combat140-lin3/
$ ./Space-Combat140-i686-lin3

IMPORTANT: Space Combat will NOT run outside of its directory.

CHANGELOG *********************************************************************

Space Combat 140-lin3: 2004-08-06
  * linked some bits in statically - namely, libpng, libz, and libstdc++.
    that should fix the libstdc++ issues that you are all having!
  * brought us up to date with Austin's latest.

Space Combat 140-lin2: 2004-05-10-later-that-day
  * explicitly linked against -lz: thank you to Matt Johnson for reporting
    that to me!
  * renamed binary to SpaceCombat$VERSION-$ARCH
  * changed email address to linux@x-plane.com

Space Combat 140: 2004-05-10
  * initial port

ERRATA ************************************************************************

140-lin3 errata:
  * QuickTime movies do not work, and likely will not until Apple ports it
    to Linux.
  * (therefore, the QuickTime Settings... option will provide unpredictable
    results)
  * mouse cursor flickers

TROUBLESHOOTING ***************************************************************

Inevitably, there will be problems, as this is a beta.

If Space Combat complains that "It seems that you have moved X-Plane out of
the X-System folder!", what it is really trying to say is that it cannot
find the "Space Combat Resources" directory (or some critical files
therein). Make sure you are running Space Combat from its directory, and if
all else fails, reinstall it.

If Space Combat just dies with the message "Killed", it is possible that
your system does not have enough memory to run Space Combat. Enable swap and
try again.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT *************************************************************

The author of the Linux port has agreed to take technical support inquiries,
provided that they are properly formed. However, unfortunately the Linux
port author's time is limited, and he cannot make any guarantees as to
whether you will get a response.

PLEASE read the article at
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html before emailing with a
technical support question! QUESTIONS/BUG REPORTS THAT IGNORE THE GUIDELINES
IN SAID ARTICLE WILL BE ROUTED IMMEDIATELY TO /dev/null, DO NOT PASS GO, DO
NOT COLLECT $200!
